Terms of Service & Anti-Piracy Statement

1. Scope of Services & Infrastructure Provision

Crafted Home Tech provides custom, independent residential systems engineering, hardware installation, and data management consulting. Our services include the physical setup, optimization, and configuration of network-attached storage (NAS) devices, local area networks (LAN), and media server software platforms (such as Plex or Jellyfin).

We assemble the physical and digital infrastructure to store and manage data locally, but we do not provide, host, or distribute digital content of any kind.

2. Commitment to Copyright Compliance & Anti-Piracy

Crafted Home Tech is committed to operating in full compliance with Canadian copyright laws, including the Copyright Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-42).

  • Permitted Use & Format Shifting: Our whole-home media server configurations and software optimization services are provided strictly for the legal management of media that the client has a lawful right to possess. This includes the setup of file-management and format-shifting utilities (such as data-preservation software used to convert legally owned, physical discs into digital files for private, personal home use) as permitted under Canadian law.

  • Prohibition of Digital Piracy: We do not condone, facilitate, or support digital piracy, unauthorized downloading, or the integration of illicit third-party streaming plugins designed to bypass legitimate subscription frameworks or pirate protected material.

  • Refusal of Illicit Services: We reserve the right to immediately refuse or terminate services if a client requests configuration changes or software integrations explicitly intended to infringe on copyrights or distribute material illegally.

3. Client Responsibility & Data Sovereignty

As a foundational principle of our business, we install systems that grant the client complete data sovereignty. Consequently, the client assumes full and sole legal responsibility for all data stored, transferred, or accessed through the infrastructure we install.

  • Content Verification: Crafted Home Tech does not view, audit, index, or manage the content of your media libraries or file systems. It is the sole responsibility of the client to ensure that all digital files stored on their local servers comply with intellectual property laws.

  • Indemnification: By engaging our services, the client agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Crafted Home Tech and its founder from any and all legal claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising from the client’s use of the installed infrastructure to store or distribute unauthorized or infringing material.

4. Software Licensing & Third-Party Platforms

While we configure and optimize hardware to run server platforms, the client is solely responsible for reading, accepting, and complying with the end-user license agreements (EULAs) and terms of service of all installed third-party operating systems and software applications (e.g., Unraid, UniFi, Synology DSM, Plex, Jellyfin, etc.).

5. Modification of Terms

Crafted Home Tech reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time to reflect updates in technology, operational requirements, or changes to Canadian federal or provincial legislation. Continued use of our consulting and installation services constitutes acceptance of the terms in effect at the time of service.
